Biography
Architect, interior designer, planner and urban designer, William Zmistowski, Jr., AIA, has a longstanding commitment to his clients and to differentiating their projects in the market. He has won international acclaim for his popular design work at resort and hotel properties, golf communities, private clubs, golf course and real estate developments of diverse nature in many places, cultures and environments.
He studied art in Palm Beach, architecture and mathematics at the University of Minnesota under School of Architecture dean, Ralph Rapson. After serving his internship in the ski resorts of Colorado he established and managed the multi-disciplinary design firm Zmistowski Design Group of Boulder, Colorado, USA for 30 years as a hands-on principal actively engaged in maintaining the design standards that have contributed to his clients' success. Zmistowski's design of Desert Highlands in Arizona won prestigious honor awards for its' compelling, indigenous and environmentally sensitive design. Since then he has been responsible for the design of the luxury resort hotel properties, fine clubs and clubhouses shown in this website.
Zmistowski is recognized internationally as a leading expert in clubhouse and golf resort architectural design. His award-winning design work and writings are widely published in books and periodicals ( e.g. Architectural Digest, July 2006 ) in several countries. Also, essential to his practice has been the design of public, pay-for-play golf clubhouses. Zmistowski is a 5th generation golfer and grandson of championship English golf professional, Wilfrid E. Reid, a protege of Harry Vardon and one of the founders of the PGA of America in 1916.
